Richmond International Raceway offers great night racing action and a commitment to the fan experience. It annually hosts two NASCAR weekends featuring the Sprint Cup Series and Nationwide Series under the lights on an 0.75-mile D-shaped oval.

According to longtime NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace, Richmond International Raceway is almost every driver's favorite racetrack. The unique layout traditionally produces exciting side-by-side racing and plenty of passing, yet drivers reach high enough speeds for a superspeedway feel.

The first Sprint Cup Series race is scheduled on May 1, but it's the second Sprint Cup race that has become one of the most important on the entire NASCAR circuit. The "One Last Race to Make the Chase" on Sept. 11 is the 26th race of the season. It's critical because it's the last event before the Chase for the Championship, meaning it can determine who will compete for the title and who won't.

Jeremy Mayfield won this race in 2004 just to get into the Chase, and Tony Stewart fell out of the Chase here after a disappointing run in 2006. Last year, the final spot in The Chase was unsettled until the final lap, with Brian Vickers edging Kyle Busch by just eight points for a Chase berth. It's that important.
